Fun in the Sun

July 12 Well our plan today was to sleep in as long as we could and even take a nap for part of the day. What else are you gonna do when you’re waiting for famous cyclists to breeze by you? All hopes of sleep were dashed though when the people who stayed up very late partying the night before also woke up before us-how this is possible we do not know. We did take our time getting ready for the day…bathing in the creek, peeing in the bushes, etc. And by the way, the biggest issue with tent camping around thousands of people=finding a spot to potty (for a girl). Once we were ready for the day, we walked to the top of the climb where people were painting on the road, riding bikes, and for entertainment, there was even a trio at the top. Even though their songs were in French, we thoroughly enjoyed it. So many people were at the climb and the excitement was brewing in the air. On our way back down to camp, we ran into a retired couple from Florida that we met yesterday. They invited us into their camper and we stayed for quite a while. It was so nice to spend a large portion of our day out of the sun. But, when my stomach started growling we headed back to our tent for lunch. After lunch we headed down the hill to see the spectators below us and found a nice waterfall to cool ourselves. Then it was more of a waiting game. Other memorable events of the day included me picking out not only an American accent from a family, but a Texan one at that. Nate went right up to them and asked if they were from Texas. It was a good thing he was right. They were fun to chat with. They also had met a Coloradan couple up the road so we decided to go talk to them. It turns out the couple lives in Boulder and were on their honeymoon. They had rented a car and have been all over Europe. The girl warned us that she had been walking to the restaurants at the top to use the restroom, but they overflowed from so many people and even flooded their storeroom. Needless to say we did not eat at the restaurant. We talked to the couple until it got dark and started to rain. We got ready for bed just in time because the skies started to downpour and we went from a range of rain and lightning to hail. Yet, people stayed outside until late into the night. 0k Mo
